This oil is extracted from the gum resins of the giant fennel plant which is now grown commercially in southern europe and northern africa.
It has been used for many centuries. The Hebrews used it as an anointing oil and the ancient Egyptians for embalming. It was also used to make early cosmetics and incense.
Traditionally it heals, treats skin and digestive disorders and is very calming.
The essential oil gives a warm, woody, slightly melon-like smell. It is soothing, calming, relaxing, uplifting and very refreshing.
In Aromatherapy it is excellent for healing blemishes, scarred or grazed skin. Also if great for stress, anxiety, nervous tension and fatigue.
HOME USES: Massages, baths, inhalation. It can be mixed with more fragrant essential oils to make a therapeutic facial massage for blemished skin or for a deeply relaxing and restorative body massage or bath.
When inhaled, it has a tonic effect. However, it is not a pleasant smell when used on its own.
